Importance of Engineering And Design
When unexpected changes in business create new demands
for in-plant space utilization, modular buildings give you unlimited flexibility in responding quickly- and for

conventional construction.
These modular offices feature interchangeable wall panels,
door and window panels let you make changes quickly
without disturbing adjacent panels or the ceiling.
To give you an EXAMPLE: Our
customer wanted to take a panel in an existing modular
office and convert it to a door (see picture- click on to
enlarge if you like) .
They had purchased multiple modular offices from us 5 or 6 years ago and they were re-organizing their
plant. (Sounds familiar?) Several of
the offices were dismantled and we had used many of these
parts for an expansion of their main offices. We had a
door left over which they needed for handicap access to an
office. It took (1) man approximately (3) hours to put
the door in. This just some of the advantages to using these

The advantages of using modular offices versus traditional 2x4 with sheetrock are many that make the choice clear for
plant operations. For starters, they are quick. We can ship a
standard office that has 8'-0" panels in 5 days. Assembly with some
knowledge of reading instructions and use of tools and anchors is helpful.
Portafab will ship with the office a complete drawing layout of your office showing window, door and wall
locations with dimensions. In fact, prior to your order with us
will require that you fax or email us the layout for your modular office. The drawing doesn't need to be a professional CAD layout (Portafab will do that)
just a hand sketch of where the doors (with swing), and window
locations. We then will take that sketch and forward it to Portafab which
they will then take that drawing and make up the
installation drawing based on your sketch. Sound

Both the fire and sound panels as well as the hardboard
panels have a vinyl finish that can be cleaned with a mild cleaning agent if they should get marked up or dirty. We've used Fantastik or Windex
while cleaning up after we get done and haven't had any problems with reaction
to the vinyl. The main use of the fire and sound panels in the
operations is to achieve a class 'A' fire rated structure. But if you
are trying to get a panel that will stand up to abuse the hardboard is the way to go. The fire and sound is basically sheetrock
covered with the vinyl finish that has a polystyrene core. 3" overall
thickness. If you go to the Pricing area link above, it will show you what
they look like. The thermal properties of the standard hardboard panel are
actually better than the fire and sound. But the fire and sound has better
decibel lowering qualities. The choice is up to you!
But in either panel type selection, the vinyl finish
comes in either a champagne or light gray. The advantage of this
construction method again is time, time, time! Once the office is
built, the vinyl finish is already on the panels. You don't have to finish
drywall, sand drywall, 2 or 3 coats of that and then paint it. The same is
true with the door. True, you can get a pre-hung door at Lowe's or Home
Depot, but you still have to paint it. These doors are already painted, in
the wall panel and ready to use in HALF THE TIME IT WOULD TAKE YOU TO BUILD
